All change in the senior British cyclo-cross titles as the defending champions miss out in Shrewsbury
– Photos by Andy Jones British cyclo-cross national championships 2016 Liam Killeen took his maiden cyclo-cross senior title at a mud-soaked Shrewsbury Sports Village, while Nikki Harris came from behind to snatch the women’s title in dramatic finish.
The former Commonwealth Games Champion and Olympic mountain biker, riding for Specialized Cycles, left favourite and reigning champion Ian Field to settle for second.
The 33-year-old from Malvern made his move half way through the hour-long race, pulling away each lap to win by 30 seconds.
Killeen said: “I sensed a little bit of slowing in pace and just kept at my threshold as a gap opened up and it was just ticking the clock down on the last couple of laps.”
Taking third place on the day was Jack Clarkson (Hope Factory Racing) who initially chased the leading duo before making the bronze medal his own.
