Winter finally arrives this week: Are you ready for it?

British cyclists are in for a shock: sub-zero temperatures, snow and ice hit the nation this week after a lengthy spell of unseasonal mild weather Remember this? Just twelve months ago Milan-San Remo was almost cancelled due to the weather. Winter looks set to arrive properly in Britain this week, with snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures sweeping across the nation after a long spell of unusually mild and wet weather.

The forecast is a grim one for those of us commuting by bike or planning a long ride this week, particularly on the back of the recent milder, albeit wet weather.

Our advice is to keep a close eye on the weather forecast for the next 48 hours, and above all make sure that you are fully prepared for the weather if or when you do venture out on your bike.

After being hit by record rainfall and flooding throughout December and early January, parts of Scotland and the north of England have already experienced some snowfall as cold weather arrives from Scandinavia.

Temperatures will fall later this week, with the possibility of sleet and snow moving as far south as London by Friday.
