Brailsford: Teams should publish rider performance data

Team Sky boss urges greater transparency Team Sky principal Sir Dave Brailsford says oth er leading cycling teams should follow the British WorldTour team’s example and release performance data of their leading riders.

He added that UCI president Brian Cookson believes it is an idea that is "worth discussing," reports BBC Sport.

In July, Team Sky released Chris Froome’s data for Stage 10 of the Tour de France to La Pierre St Martin, which he won on his way to overall victory in Paris, to counter suspicions he was doping.

Brailsford believes that the sport’s governing body should require other teams to do likewise.

"It should be standardised," he told BBC Sport.

He added: "As a general action or thought, the intent to be as transparent as possible is a very good thing. I don’t think anybody can criticise that."The fact that it was independent from the team – so we could not influence the results – was very healthy, too, and I was fully supportive of that."Last month, Froome himself released further data with the results disclosed in an article written for Esquire magazine by cycling writer Richard Moore.
