American pro Chad Haga makes stream of humorous comments via social media as he continues his hospital recovery after being hit by a car in Spain 17 January 2015 17th Tour Down Under Team Presentation HAGA Chad (USA) Giant – Alpecin Photo : Yuzuru SUNADA American pro Chad Haga has continued to make light of being hospitalised after a car collided with the Giant-Alpecin team during a training ride in Spain on Saturday.

The 27-year-old Texan has made a stream of humorous comments about the everyday challenges he faces due to his injuries and his extended stay in hospital, proving the nasty experience has not dampened his spirits. I just stood up for the first time in 3 days, which means I’m either an average American or recovering well from being hit by a car. Haga was the most seriously injured of the six riders injured in the incident, and was air-lifted to hospital with injuries to his neck, shin and a fractured eye socket. He was awaiting surgery on the eye socket, but said on Wednesday that he may now not require a surgical procedure.

A 73-year-old British woman has been charged by Alicante police in relation to the incident.
